VSSA offers several research opportunities in clinical research and the basic sciences, including the Undergraduate Clinical Research Internship Program (UCRIP), Molecular and Cellular Biology Summer Program (IGP), Vanderbilt Summer Diabetes Research Program, Department of Biomedical Informatics Summer Research Internship Program (DBMI-SRIP), and the Medical Scientist Training Program (MSTP).
There are multiple programs under the VSSA umbrella, each with their own requirements and directors, so read the descriptions carefully. Please explore programs for Basic Research and programs for Clinical Research.
Who can apply
- Must be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or have DACA status.
- Must be a current undergraduate student at the time of application.
- Demonstrated interest in biomedical research and pursuing a career in the health sciences or related fields.
- Preference is given to students from underrepresented groups in science, economically disadvantaged backgrounds, or those who have overcome significant educational, social, or economic barriers
