The Bernard S. and Sophie G. Gould MIT Summer Research Program in Biology (BSG-MSRP-Bio) is a 10-week intensive research experience designed for non-MIT undergraduate students who are considering a career in the sciences. The program provides an opportunity to conduct supervised research in state-of-the-art facilities, engage with MIT's academic community, and participate in various professional development activities.
Participants engage in full-time research in one of over 90 laboratories affiliated with the Department of Biology, the Department of Brain & Cognitive Sciences, or the Department of Chemistry. The program includes weekly academic seminars, meetings with faculty, and extracurricular activities aimed at enhancing the research experience.
Who can apply
- Full-time undergraduate students at a U.S. university or college who are current sophomores, juniors, or non-graduating seniors.
- Successful completion of introductory courses in the life sciences.
- Minimum GPA of 3.5 in all STEM courses.
- Prior research experience is required.
- Demonstrated interest in basic research and a career in the sciences.
- Must be available to begin the program on the first day; no exceptions.
- International students on F-1 visas with outstanding academic records who meet all the above criteria are eligible to apply.
