The Bioengineering Summer Undergraduate Research Experience (BE-SURE) at Princeton University is designed to provide students with the opportunity to work on innovative research projects at the intersection of biology and engineering. Participants are matched with faculty mentors and work on a variety of bioengineering research projects in areas such as tissue engineering, biomaterials, biomechanics, synthetic biology, bioinformatics, and drug delivery.
Students gain hands-on experience in experimental techniques, data analysis, and computational modeling, and work in state-of-the-art bioengineering labs. The research projects focus on addressing important questions in biomedical science, such as the development of novel biomaterials, the design of biomedical devices, and the application of synthetic biology to solve health-related challenges.

Who can apply
- Undergraduate Status: Applicants must be currently enrolled as undergraduate students, typically rising juniors or seniors.
- Interest in Bioengineering Research: Applicants should have a strong interest in bioengineering, biomedical engineering, biotechnology, or related fields.
- Academic Achievement: A competitive GPA is required, particularly in relevant coursework such as biology, chemistry, bioengineering, or chemical engineering.
- Application Materials: Applicants are typically required to submit a resume or CV, a personal statement outlining their research interests and career goals, unofficial transcripts, and letters of recommendation from faculty members.
