The Summer Undergraduate Research Program (SURP) at the University of Pittsburgh provides undergraduate students with the opportunity to engage in cutting-edge research in various fields of study. This program is designed to enhance students' research skills and prepare them for graduate studies or professional careers in their chosen fields. Participants will work under the mentorship of Pitt faculty members and will have the chance to present their research findings at the end of the program.
Who can apply
- Applicants must have completed their sophomore or junior year of undergraduate training before the start of the program.
- Applicants must have a GPA of 3.0 ("B") or higher. Strong performance in science, math, and related coursework is especially important.
- Students from all groups that are under-represented in science are encouraged to apply.
- Applicants must be undergraduate students currently enrolled full-time at a U.S. college or university.
- International applicants, who are enrolled full-time at a U.S. college or university, will be required to confirm their ability to participate in the program by providing evidence of valid CPT or pre-completion OPT prior to their arrival in Pittsburgh.
