The Summer Program for the Advancement of Research Knowledge (SPARK) at Moffitt Cancer Center is a 10-week, donor-funded internship designed to immerse undergraduate students in cancer research. Interns collaborate with leading scientists across various specialties, gaining hands-on experience in a premier oncology research environment. SPARK provides undergraduates with a comprehensive research experience, working full-time on projects in fields such as Immunology, Bioinformatics, Cancer Epidemiology, Drug Discovery, and more. Interns are expected to commit 40 hours per week and participate in a scientific communications course, culminating in a presentation of their research findings.
Who can apply
- Academic Standing: Currently enrolled undergraduate students, particularly those who have completed 2 or 3 years of study with advanced coursework and laboratory experience. Applicants who will have graduated by May are ineligible.
- Commitment: Full-time participation for the entire duration of the program; due to its intensity, taking summer classes or maintaining other employment is discouraged.
