Established in 2005 by SAICA, the Thuthuka Bursary Fund aims to transform the demographics of the chartered accountancy profession in South Africa by supporting disadvantaged African and Coloured students. The program provides comprehensive support, including tuition, books, meals, accommodation, and additional resources such as academic enrichment programs, mentoring, and life skills training. This holistic approach ensures that students are well-prepared to become Chartered Accountants [CAs(SA)].
Who can apply
- Open only to students pursuing the Chartered Accountant qualification.
- South African citizenship.
- Black African or Coloured ethnicity.
- Currently in Grade 12, out of school (with Matric) for no more than two years, or a university student studying a CA-stream BCom degree.
- Minimum of 60% in Mathematics (not Mathematical Literacy or Technical Maths) in Grade 11.
- Applied or in the process of applying for a BCom Accounting (CA-stream) degree at a SAICA-accredited university offering the Thuthuka program.
- Combined family income of R350,000 per annum or less.
- Registration for the National Benchmark Tests (NBT).
