The Washington Academic Internship Program (WAIP) at The Ohio State University's John Glenn College of Public Affairs lets undergraduate students of any major live, learn, and intern in Washington, D.C. for a semester as a "John Glenn Fellow." Students work 20-32 hours per week at internship sites matched to their academic and professional interests — roughly 65% of placements are paid — with hosts that have included the ACLU, congressional offices, nonprofits, media outlets, and government agencies.
Who can apply
- Undergraduate student at Ohio State University, any major
- Must have completed at least 60 credit hours before applying
- Application requires a current resume, a two-page personal statement, a three-to-five-page writing sample, and two letters of recommendation (at least one from a faculty member/instructor/TA)
- Selected applicants may be invited to a 20-30 minute interview with WAIP staff shortly after the deadline
