The Rockefeller Foundation's Bellagio Center Residency Program brings together an interdisciplinary mix of scholars, artists, and practitioners for focused work on projects that address global and social challenges, especially those facing underserved communities. Residents stay at the Bellagio Center on Lake Como, Italy, joining a cohort for cross-disciplinary exchange. Since 1959 the program has hosted more than 4,100 people from over 130 countries, and it actively prioritises global participation, including applicants from the Global South. Applications are made through an annual open call (2026 residencies closed 24 March 2025; the 2027 cycle uses a two-stage Expression of Interest process).
Who can apply
- Academics, artists, or practitioners with a strong track record in their field
- A defined project that a residency would meaningfully advance
- Open to applicants worldwide; Global South participation prioritised
- Not eligible: US government officials, recent Bellagio residents (within 5 years) or those with two prior residencies
