The JPL Summer Internship Program offers 10-week, full-time summer internship opportunities at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory to undergraduate and graduate students pursuing degrees in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics (STEM). Interns are paired with JPL scientists or engineers serving as mentors, working on designated projects that provide hands-on educational experience while contributing to NASA and JPL missions and science. Participants also engage in enrichment activities such as tours, lectures, and career advisement organized by the JPL Education Office.
Internships typically begin in May or June on the first business day of the week. Interns receive a monetary award disbursed monthly, with amounts varying by session and subject to change. A supplemental housing and travel allowance is provided for those whose home institutions are more than 50 miles from JPL. The program emphasizes practical experience in cutting-edge research and development at the leading center for robotic exploration of the solar system.
Who can apply
- Currently enrolled undergraduate and graduate students pursuing STEM degrees from accredited U.S. universities
- Minimum cumulative 3.00 GPA from the current active institution
- U.S. citizens or lawful permanent residents (LPRs)
- Available full-time (40 hours/week) for at least 10 weeks during the summer
