The Congressional Black Caucus Foundation, Incorporated (CBCF) offers the Congressional Internship Program, a summer internship program for undergraduate students, providing firsthand experience in the legislative process. This intensive 9-week summer program (May 23 – July 24/26, 2026) places interns in the offices of Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) Members, where they gain valuable insight into policymaking, governance, and civic engagement. Interns actively contribute to policy research, legislative drafting, constituency engagement, and committee hearings while working alongside experienced legislative staff. The program is designed for students aspiring to careers in public service, law, government affairs, and policy analysis. Note: this is distinct from CBCF's separate 9-month Congressional Fellows Program, which is for graduate students and young professionals.
Who can apply
- Rising college sophomore, junior, or senior, or recently graduated within the last 2 years
- Cannot have obtained or be currently enrolled in a graduate degree program
- Minimum GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale
- Must reside in or attend a university/institution located in a CBC Member's congressional district
- U.S. citizenship or permit to work in the U.S. for the program duration
- General familiarity with the federal legislative process, U.S. Congress, and the Congressional Black Caucus
- Full-time availability upon acceptance
- Former CBCF interns and relatives of CBCF staff/CBC Members/board members are ineligible
