The Benjamin H. Kean Travel Fellowship in Tropical Medicine supports medical students who arrange a clinical or research elective in tropical medicine in a resource-limited or disease-endemic setting. Run by the American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene since 1998, it is designed to encourage young physicians to build careers in tropical medicine and global health.
Who can apply
- Full-time student at an accredited US or Canadian medical school at the time of application and of the elective
- Proposed elective in clinical tropical medicine or tropical-medicine research
- Placement includes at least one month at a site endemic for tropical communicable diseases
